I moved to Austin over 15 years ago, and I have never once regretted that decision. I’m certainly not alone in my love for the city, over the past ten years Austin has seen steady growth, but 2015 was a particularly special year.

According to the US Census Bureau, Austin is home to a few of the fastest growing counties in the country. Travis County, for instance, was ranked 105 out of 3,143 counties in 2015. As mentioned, Austin has been experiencing stable growth for the past ten years, but Travis County's population has increased by 13 percent in the past five alone. Even more excitingly, this type of growth isn’t exclusive to just Travis County. The entire city has continued to grow at a rapid pace and the demand for property has followed suit. So what do we have to thank for this type of growth? What is attracting so many people?Beyond the atmosphere that so many have come to and love, several major industries in Austin have been thriving as of late.

Austin has become a notable community for both startup companies and established businesses. Take for example the successful fundraising of seed money for the telemedicine startup company, Chiron Health Inc. and application company Gyst Inc.  These are just a few examples of many more technological and pharmaceutical Austin-based companies that have recently gone public, furthering the point that such businesses are finding great success in Austin.

As attractive as Austin is for the various business sectors, it’s also a great city to raise a family. I can say this from personal experience, and from looking at the trends from the most recent data. A significant amount of young people choosing to make Austin their home. In fact, over 17 percent of Austin's population is between the ages of 25 and 34. This is substantially higher than the US average of 13.5 percent. These millennials are definitely attracted to the booming businesses and lively city of Austin. Many are touching down and staying put; establishing their roots and looking for homes.

Austin is growing faster than ever. Newly established businesses, flourishing industries, and ambitious young people are all contributing to the exciting growth of our city. As a result of this growth, the property demand is increasing as well. I know that I'm looking forward to continuing to develop my future here as I assist others in finding theirs, and I’m sure many reading this are as well.
