Experience

Those who crave peaceful country living with easy access to city amenities will find plenty to love about the Great Oaks community in the western side of Round Rock. Lot sizes in this small neighborhood are at least one acre, and some sprawl over several acres. The lots have large, mature native trees. The neighborhood was developed in the 1970s and 1980s, and all homes were custom-built, so there are no two alike. There is nothing “cookie cutter” about Great Oaks.

Great Oaks homes do not come on the market often. Along the peaceful, quiet countryside of this 78681 community are homes with plenty of privacy and space to relax and call your own. Great Oaks homes offer ranch-style floor plans with vaulted ceilings, spacious kitchens, stone fireplaces, and 3 to 4 bedrooms. From the covered patios, there's room to rest while taking in the peaceful hill country views. Some homes have the luxury of backing up to the winding Brushy Creek. Long walkways and tall mature trees lead up to each farmhouse style estate. The homes range from 2,000 to 3,400 square feet and some even include freestanding storage units and workshops. It is common to see exteriors of native Austin limestone. A number of properties feature ranch-style fences around the lots as well.

The primary benefit of the Great Oaks neighborhood is country living close to the city. The community is small and peaceful, with easy access to nature. Brushy Creek winds through the southern edge, and there are a handful of small ponds throughout the neighborhood. There is a voluntary homeowner’s association for the area, Great Oaks HOA. You can keep your horse on your property here, and the large lots make it easy to store your boats and equipment. Residents enjoy the freedom to make their home and land their own, without heavy restrictions.

If the Great Oaks community does not offer enough natural beauty for you, the neighborhood is just a few miles away from two major public parks, including the 90-acre Brushy Creek Lake Park to the southwest of Great Oaks and the 800-acre Southwest Williamson Country Regional Park to the northwest. Brushy Creek Lake Park offers a water playground/splash pad, labyrinth, Bocce and volleyball courts, playgrounds, and a 38-acre lake with fishing piers and kayak/canoe launch areas. Southwest Williamson County Regional Park also features a splash pad, as well as a 200-acre nature preserve, eleven soccer fields, two softball fields, a cricket field, tennis and basketball courts, disc golf course, walking paths, and the Cedar Rock Railroad, a 1.3 mile quarter scale train ride.
