Great Hills

Experience

The hills are alive in Northwest Austin, where Great Hills, originally developed in the 1970s, has become a coveted neighborhood for families and young professionals who work in the tech industry. Nestled between Highway 183 and Loop 360, the community is home to hilly, tree-filled terrain, scenic views. Great Hills homes are just 11 miles from Downtown Austin. Located north of the intersection of Highway 183 and Loop 360, Great Hills is a quick 21-mile drive to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Great Hills is one of the best known neighborhoods in Austin. Because of its great location, residents enjoy close proximity and easy access to everything Austin has to offer. Shopping and dining are just 3 miles away at the Arboretum at Great Hills with Banana Republic, Barnes & Noble, and Cheesecake Factory. The Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline is a favorite destination for taking in a movie while eating dinner and enjoying an adult beverage. For healthcare, Seton Northwest Hospital is a reassuring 4-mile drive away.

The lush landscape is also home to several nice parks. The aptly named Great Hills Park covers 80-plus acres and includes a 1.7-mile hiking trail, a playscape and covered pavilion, picnic tables, exercise equipment, and more. A short drive away, residents can access the 48-acre Bull Creek District Park. A hidden gem beloved by dogs and their owners, the park features limestone boulders, natural springs, and waterfalls. There are also a large multipurpose field, a barbecue pit, a picnic table, 12 volleyball courts, and a fishing pier.

Golf and cycling enthusiasts are fans of the easy access to Great Hills Country Club and Nelo’s Cycles & Coffee. The former, a members-owned club, is home to a challenging 18-hole course. Members can also play tennis on one of eight courts, swim laps in the junior Olympic-size pool, lift weights at the fitness center, or dine on fish tacos in the clubhouse. The views here are spectacular!

Schools

Because of the large size of the neighborhood, both the Austin ISD and Round Rock ISD serve the students in this area. In AISD, schools for this area are Hill Elementary (PK-5), Murchison Middle (6-8), and Anderson High School (9-12). Some of the RRISD schools for the area are Laurel Mountain Elementary (PK-5), Canyon Vista Middle (6-8), and Westwood High School (9-12), among others. Westwood is well known for its achievements including championship sports, award-winning band and choir programs, and a designation as the 8th best high school in Texas by Newsweek magazine.
