Windsor

Experience

Windsor Park is an established, residential neighborhood just east of I-35, with large lots on clean, tree-lined streets. The neighborhood borders Hwy. I-35 to the west and Hwy. 290 to the north, so residents have access to other parts of the city. Established in the 1950s, this neighborhood is a diverse community of families, young professionals, lifelong Austinites, and recent Austin transplants. Just six miles from downtown Austin, the neighborhood is brimming with wide streets, large trees, well-tended yards, and classic ranch-style homes — all just a short walk from dining, shopping, and recreation. Windsor Park has a close-knit community with an active neighborhood association that plans many events for residents throughout the year. Most residents take pride in their neighborhood, and houses are well-maintained.

Additionally, Windsor Park is home to two green spaces: Bartholomew Park, a 57-acre area that includes disc golf, ball fields, basketball courts, sheltered picnic areas with BBQ grills, a playscape and a splash pad; and Dottie Jordan Park, which features a newly renovated public pool, tennis courts, after-school programs, and more. The sense of community in this neighborhood is evident in the residents’ efforts to maintain both parks. Friends of Dottie Jordan Park adopted the space and have since made improvements and facelifts. Windsor Park is also home to a branch of the Austin Public Library, which hosts regular story times and movies.

With commuter traffic - the number one gripe among Austinites - residents appreciate that Windsor Park homes are so close to major roadways making the commute to major companies like Google, Facebook, and Dell Seton Medical School, almost as painless as it was for generations before. The area has access to bike lanes and public transportation for easy commuting.

Schools

The Windsor Park community is part of the Austin ISD. Harris Elementary School (PK-5), Pearce Middle School (6-8), and Reagan High School (9-12) serves students in this neighborhood. Reagan High is a learning institution with an attendance of over 1,200 students and has a distinguished reputation for track and field athletics. Nearby higher education institutions include Austin Community College and UT-Austin.
