Anderson Mill is an established community in northwest Austin named for the Anderson Gristmill that once operated off Volente Road in the early 1860s. This neighborhood offers 60 acres of parks and greenbelt areas connected by six miles of hike and bike trails. Residents benefit from two year-round heated pools, six parks with playscapes, tennis and volleyball courts, soccer fields, and a softball diamond. In addition, residents can join the Anderson Mill Fitness Center which offers weights and fitness machines. Residents can also join Balcones Country Club. Westwood is widely considered one of the top high schools in the state. As part of their curriculum, students choose a career interest integrated through job shadowing and dual-credit courses. Private schools in the area include Concordia University and Hill Country Christian School (PK-12).
