Highland Homes For Sale

Highland

Experience

Highland is a quiet, working-class neighborhood located in the heart of North-Central Austin with charming, modest, single-family homes. The neighborhood is probably best known for the Highland Mall, once a prominent shopping center that has fallen into disuse in recent years, and the Department of Public Safety office to renew driver’s licenses and car registrations. Residents choose to call this neighborhood home for its convenient location near major Austin roadways and quiet neighborhood atmosphere. Residents also love the deep sense of community felt and fostered in Highland. The neighborhood association is very active and sponsors local events in the community. Getting to work in downtown Austin is easier than ever thanks to the Austin Metrorail station in the neighborhood. The old Highland Mall in the area has also recently transformed into ACC’s newest campus. The Highland neighborhood is a very walkable neighborhood, with many amenities within just a few blocks from your front door.

Downtown and the University of Texas are just a five-minute car ride away. Public transportation is also highly accessible. North Lamar Boulevard is close by with an eclectic collection of casual eateries, retail options, and services. There is great diversity in the community, so it isn’t a surprise that there are also wonderful international grocery markets and shops also. The Triangle is less than 2 miles away, a unique eat-live-shop space that includes a recurring farmer’s market. For outdoor fun and recreation, Brentwood Neighborhood Park is just 2 miles away and offers walking trails, pool, playground, and athletic fields. With a short drive you can be on the “Drag” by the University of Texas or enjoying the entertainment districts of Downtown Austin. If you’re looking for more places to shop, The Domain is a 10 minute drive off 183. The Domain offers your normal fare of shops such as Dillard’s, and Macy’s, plus your upscale designer shopping as well.

There are plenty of top-notch restaurants in Austin and living in the Highland Neighborhood will give you an easy commute to most of them. However, if you want to stay a little closer to home, you can’t go wrong with the Blackstar Co-op Pub and Brewery. The food is locally sourced and the menu consists of Texas pub fare that complements their beer. One of the most popular neighborhood Coffee shops is Kick Butt Coffee. Kick Butt is your one stop shop for not just grabbing a quick coffee, but for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
